Walk this extra mile

We all know that everything turns around money. We need it to pay the bills, buy the food, afford luxuries. It makes life easier to have money than not to have it. Business is about making money. I would tell a lie if I said that I do not want my businesses to make money. Yes, I am in business to make money.
However, not everything has to have a price tag attached to it to be seen as valuable. When you offer a service, you presumably charge for it. What happens if your service does not meet the requirements of your client? Do you bury your head in sand or do you face the client and try to rectify the problem?

Recently, I discovered that I did not supply the service that one of my clients needed. All the work was done to the best of my abilities, but it did not meet the requirements. It just did not give what it was expected. Since I have always had a deep feeling of honesty and care for my customers, I offered to rectify the problem free of charge. I know it is going to take my time and I will not get paid for it.

So what am I gaining?
Trust. You cannot put a price on trust. Your rapport with your customers is invaluable.

You need to walk this extra mile if you want to build a strong business. There is no harm in overdelivering, you gain so much more than money. Besides, you never know, when and to who your customer will recommend you.
It is worth spending half an hour extra to overdeliver. You will see rewards sooner than you think.
