Book worth reading

Yesterday I came across a book for children (teenagers to be more acurate), which I feel is worth getting if you have a child. Its title is: “Show Me the Money” and is supposed to guide your child through finances and basically teach about money. I haven’t looked into it yet, as I am still waiting fot its arrival, but as soon as I have a browse, I will let you know my thoughts.
Why did I get this book ? Because I have children and they to need to learn how to be money wise. By the way, I got it from Red House, they have a deal now: 5 books for £12 or 10 for £20. (applies only to books from New Year Sale) I wasn’t able to find enough books worth buying for £20, but you may be lucky.

Good advice for 2010

I received this advice via email and I thought I would share it with you as it contains a few good points…
Health:

1. Drink plenty of water

2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar

3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants, and eat less food that is manufactured in plants

4. Live with the 3 E’s: Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy

5. Make time for prayer

6. Play more games

7. Read more books than you did in 2009

8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day

9. Sleep for 7 hours

10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day – and while you walk, smile

Personality:

11. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

12. Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment

13. Don’t overdo; keep your limits

14. Don’t take yourself so seriously; no one else does

15. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip

16. Dream more while you are awake

17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

18. Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.

20. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present

21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you

22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class, but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

23. Smile and laugh more

24. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Community:

25. Call your family often

26. Each day give something good to others

27. Forgive everyone for everything

28. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6

29. Try to make at least three people smile each day

30. What other people think of you is none of your business

31. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:

32. Do the right things

33. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful

34. GOD heals everything

35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change

36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up

37. The best is yet to come

38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it

39. Your Innermost is always happy. So, be happy.

Last but not least:

40. Forward this to everyone you care about.

New Year’s Resolutions

Today I would like to talk about New Year’s Resolutions. You must have made some. At least you must have made one. My resolution is very simple: to be financially free by 2013. What is yours?

You may be thinking about losing weight, finally looking your perfect self and achieving success. It won’t happen if you just sit idle thinking about it.
It’s right time to take action.

Or perhaps you decided you need to escape the rat race and change your way of thinking. Aren’t you bored with getting to the same work day after day, wasting hours in the traffic and not getting anywhere?

And if your resolution has something to do with improving your relationship, once again, start doing something about it. Don’t blame the economy for not achieving your goals, blame yourself for not leaving the comfort zone. First step: take action.

And remember:

You are the master of your own fate. Learn to control your thoughts and you will be in charge of your life.

Wishing you a prosperous New Year.

All the best from Joanna Foss, B.Sc.

Teachers in my life

teachers
Following Alex Mandossian’s advice (thanks, Alex), I created a list of teachers in my life to show my appreciation for what they taught me:

1. Wojciech Kolasinski for encouraging me to reach for the stars.
2. Oksana Kolasinska for teaching me not to return a grudge and have bad feelings even if people annoy you.
3. Jawiga Jerominko for teaching me to have passion for Polish literature and to carry on writing.
4. Mrs. Pawelska for wonderful chemistry lessons which encouraged me to go for the contest.
5. Mrs. Nowacka for teaching me classical English and love for the subject.
6. Mr.Bak for believing in women’s abilities to study and understand Physics. You never made me feel stupid.
7. Roman Paraszczak for teaching how to have great heart.
8. Mr. Wrzesien for a great maths’ class at the uni.
9. Prof. Przanowski for making difficult Quantum Physics’ issue understandable.
10. Jan Kazimierczyk for showing that desire to succeed will let you succeed.
11. Italian teacher in Lodz for teaching me to love Italian.
12. Mrs. Macjan for being a great teacher of Latin. It comes handy sometimes!
13. Mrs. Kolczynska for being a great and caring first teacher.
14. Sensei Kwiecinski for teaching me an art of self-discipline.
15. Albert Einstein for favouring imagination over knowledge.
